Ella Rock is found near the small town of Ella in the hill country of the island. It is known for its natural beauty, stunning  tea plantations and a relaxing cool climate. Hikers sometimes start their adventure from Ella town which is located 8 kilometers from Ella Rock or taking a tuk tuk to the trails found near the Ella railway station. If you are planning a visit give the scenic train ride from Kandy to Ella a chance which is considered to be one of the best train rides you can ever be in.

The ideal time for a hike at Ella is early in the morning or late in the afternoon if you want to avoid the heat. Going early in the morning would help you catch a glimpse of the beautiful sunrise. Since the temperature in the morning is cool it would turn out to be a pleasant day. Sunrise can be expected between 6 AM to 6:30 AM. If you prefer the afternoon to explore, it also offers you scenic stunning views to enjoy. Temperature becomes cooler during this time making it more convenient for a hike. The panoramic sunset can be spotted between 6 PM to 6:30 PM. Make sure to check the weather forecast before you start on your adventure due to unpredictable weather conditions.
